the shareplugin breaks my WP 3.0

I'm using the latest version of wordpress with the latest version of the social share plugin. The problem is it seriously breaks my blog whenever someone tries to see a post. I think it's a java script conflict or something because the post loads for a second or two then the whole browser goes blank (on IE the whole browser crashes).

The most probable issue has to do with my theme. I really like the plugin and, consequently, I'd really love to use it. The blog i'm trying to implement this is http://www.zmescience.com. If someone can check out the source code and screen the java script for any conflicts there might be with the plugin I'd be much appreciative. Thank you all in advance!

I don't seem to see the Sharebar code on the post page at all - do you have it enabled? Sharebar shouldn't cause any more JavaScript conflicts since the last update, as I've made it so I'm not loading JQuery myself, just citing that as a dependency. This means that it shouldn't be loaded twice, unless you're manually loading it in your theme header.

Sharebar does require the wp_head hook but from the looks of it, your theme has that properly installed.

Let me know if it's enabled and if you've tried playing with the settings (turning on auto mode, trying it manually, etc.).

I've disabled the plugin, because like I said, it breaks my website completely and I can't risk keeping it on just for evidentiating purposes. Yes, I've played with the settings. I've turned out mode off, and I checked on and off some other settings. The problem seems to lie in the vertical sharebar. I've also tried to add the code manually in the single.php, put the effect was the same as the AUTO. I love the plugin and I'd really like to use it, so if you have any clue on how I can solve the issue, please don't hesitate to leave a reply. thanks !

I think you are correct in guessing it has something do with your theme, is there any way you can verify that? Try switching to Twenty Ten or any other theme for just a minute and enable Sharebar to see if it's working. If so, then it's definitely an issue with the theme.

Unfortunately, the theme you're using isn't free so I'm not able to test it out on my own machine. Maybe post a support request in the WooThemes forum asking why it breaks on that theme?

thought so. I'll probably try to make my own sharethis vertical slider hard coded, without javascript or use of a WP plugin. I've heard there might be an issue if I try this, more exactly with the FIXED position class in CSS, as IE doesn't support this. Any risks ? Thank you for your help, Monji!

That's the main trick really, switching between absolute(or relative) and fixed positions. Each browser behaves differently so achieving the effect without resorting to a ton of browser-specific hacks can be pretty hard.

Post a new thread in the Web Design forum once you get started on your version and I can offer some help there. Hopefully a few others can chime in too!
